It's an excellent story a great high fantasy world and really worth a read.   Very lord of the rings type vibe with the anime twists.  There is one glaring issue and that is the whole story feels like it goes to a screeching halt when the story goes into the 'real world'.  You feel like you just got tricked the story completely changes, now it does go back to the other world but it really felt like slog to me to get through the real world stuff, and as of writing this the real world stuff is still going on.  Just it cuts back to the fantasy world.  Otherwise this would be a full 5 star story easily without the real world stuff.
