As a cog of that machine, I would like to say that it is the best we could realistically come up with, and really sometimes it does work, but...
What if. What if we take that very same world, full of compromises, full of hypocrisy, full of moral failures, and then we plunge a god**** fuc[REDACTED] big a** sword in it? Not only that, the sword is laced with steroids. And meth, probably. And also with the power to completely uproot human civilization as we know it.
Then, and only then, we could enact a revenge so ludicrous, so detached from the rules of man, that Gōd would actually gaze at it and smile, bowing his head. Unbending. Illogical. Glorious. Like a sword that falls from the sky and pierces all that stands before it. Cruel and sharp, fiery and unrelenting. A celebration of violence and pain that inflicts the most nonsensical and full retribution knowable by an human being, never asking... "Is it enough?".
This manga is the purest representation of that concept. From the artstyle, to the writing. It is brutal and raw. Nothing really compares. It is, in a way, perfect. In some other ways, ridiculous. But it is unique. And I'm recommending it. Because like in a Tarantino film, sometimes you just gotta sit down, take your popcorns out, and smile faintly at the fountains of blood and gore.
