Meh on Ranker Who Lives A Second Time
...
things didn't make sense at times...
maybe I'm just dumb...
the world building was pretty good but I sometimes felt like the MC was really lucky and everything just happened so that MC could get some OP artifact/ability plus he became OP really quickly (in my opinion) without really doing much work,
but I really enjoyed the fight scenes, the characters were very well written but (in my opinion) they kinda followed this algorithm and by no means is it a bad thing I'm honestly kind of glad that there is an algorithm and there aren't just random characters with no purpose all around the place.
but also because of that it also at times made the characters very predictable and honestly kind of boring.
if I wanted I could go on about this all day long but in short
this is pretty good manhwa but it's just not my type other people might like it and ofc people are allowed to voice their own opinions and stuff
but I would totally recommend this for someone who likes good story-building, and functional characters,
and good fight scenes!
now go read it smt

Meh on Urban Rebellion
The story isn't to bad
Art quality is quite good
But the translation would be better if it was done by a 10 year old and
The chapters are 1/4 of a normale chapter

Rocks on A Trace of the Wonder
It might do you some good fishing out my review of Necromancer Survival. The reason is simple: this one and that one have the exact same tropes and premises, but different quality of execution.
Both have a secondary focus on action. The fights and the monsters aren't really the center of attention here. Both have a very likeable cast, with a #damaged® MC and a very calculative and shrewd ML, slowly drowning in obsession.
But this one actually fixes all of my gripes with Necromancer Survival's "shonen ai" narration. That is to say, it doesn't improve on the action.
Nonetheless, we lose the undead mind control that warps feelings, but we gain, in order:
1) Substantially better art, thanks also to some truly stunning scenes with the reconstruction of dungeons and extremely polished character designs. To note, I really like the use of the visual concept of shadows with Hyeon's character: where he is, dark silhouettes, shapes and obscure gestures follow.
2) A more indepth characterization, with a balanced and credible approach to trauma, without fast developments but definitely not stagnant. And as I said, this is thanks to the art too.
And lastly, the truly revolutionary thing: a fuc**** functioning pacing. Fu** yeah, the relationship grows steadily and naturally. Fu** yeah, there is actually a plot to speak of, giving you a constantly "on edge" feeling of risk without falling into tragedy territory. High stakes, with some properly fuc*** psychology, and satisfying fluff both from the side cast and, in a more deranged way, the main couple.
Sure, it doesn't have s**. Neither do you. Cry me a river.
A 9+ on the Ivern Scale™️. There are some things it could've done slightly better, like a dedicated and multifaceted showing of the side cast's emotions, or better dungeon structures and monster design, but these are opportunities for improvement, and not really defects. Asking for a top notch action department in what is primarily a shonen ai might be too much.
